It's 1878 and despite oppressive Victorian sexism, Sally Lockhart is running her own firm, her own life and doing very well helping people with business investments. But when her sound, pragmatic advice goes terribly wrong and a client is left destitute, she tries to put things right - and unearths a whole world of corruption. Old friendships are renewed, new enemies are waiting, and Sally's precarious life in Victorian England is threatened.
