Hyperdrive Series two The Green Javelins © BBCHenderson is invited to join Britain's premier space-o-batics team - a sort of cosmic Red Arrows - under Squadron Leader Mason (Green Wing's Stephen Mangan). RT Choice (David Butcher, 12 July 2007)

The endearing sci-fi comedy returns. After a first series that never lived up to its Red Dwarf-ish promise and found few viewers, have the writers fixed HMS Camden Lock up for a funnier second outing?

There are still uniquely daft moments but the script feels like a wacky first draft that never knits together. Sheer silliness isn't enough, it turns out - even with great sets and a strong cast. You feel that Nick Frost's heart may no longer be in it, now he's a movie star and all, though his brilliantly childish Henderson is still a fun creation.

  • Episode 2/6 Artefact

Hyperdrive Series two Artefact © BBCHenderson falls into a classic "hero trap" when he decides to return a mysterious object to its rightful owners. He and his senior officers soon find themselves on a forest moon, surrounded by angry Queppunians. The aliens have acquired some new technology and are ready to take revenge on their enemies - by entering Henderson, York and Teal into reality TV gladiatorial contest DeathGame.

  • Episode 3/6 Admiral's Daughter

Arabella (Catherine Shepherd), the daughter of the Space Admiral, has run away to avoid university, and Henderson's been ordered to bring her back. When the Camden Lock catches up with the young student, both Vine and Jeffers take a shine to her - and are soon fighting a duel in her name. The upshot is Arabella steals a shuttle and elopes with Jeffers, forcing Henderson to put his job - and his life - on the line.

  • Episode 4/6 Harvest

York is accused of assaulting an innocent alien on board the ship and, after a short trial in the Justice Room, he's dismissed from Space Force. Teal is delighted to be promoted in his place and left in charge of the ship. Unfortunately, one of the most dangerous races in the universe, The Red Shiny Robots of Vortis, are about to attack the Camden Lock and harvest the crew's minds. Will York attempt a daring rescue or can Jeffers figure out a way to avert the danger?

  • Episode 5/6 Dreamgate

A routine search of a Lallakkiss ship turns up one of the most dangerous and illegal electronic devices in the universe - the Dreamgate, which enables users to infiltrate the dreams of others. Henderson orders York to destroy it but is persuaded to join him on a quick adventure. They wander into Vine's dream of a pub in the mid-1990s, but when he wakes up they're trapped inside the dream. Can Teal and the crew find a way to bring Henderson and York back from 1995?

  • Episode 6/6 Convoy

Thirty years late and massively over budget, Britain's new superweapon is finally ready. The Camden Lock is entrusted with leading the convoy that guards the device, but it soon becomes clear there's a traitor on board. With the Earth facing imminent destruction, there's a desperate race against time to discover the mole. Only Vine's new gadget, a Mouth Player featuring a playlist of a thousand different tastes, offers any respite from the mounting tension.
