A teacher and a student are admitted following a car crash, and the staff are shocked when they find out why the pair were together in the first place. Abby treats a patient with stomach ache, only to discover that he's suffering from something much worse. Meanwhile, Neela is itching to get back to work.

    Abby and Morris work to save the lives of two police officers gunned down after interrupting a carjacking. Pratt traces the serious cause of a teenage wrestler's vomiting, and in the ICU Gates attempts to help a youngster with a deadly disease. Meanwhile, Tony gets a surprise visit from Sarah - only to discover she's run away from her grandparents - and Dubenko visits Neela, ready to talk about their kiss.

Meanwhile, it's time to evaluate the new interns; Moretti's son pays an unexpected visit; and the inexperienced Harold seeks Neela's advice on how to please a woman.

    Power outages caused by unseasonable heat leave the ER filled with elderly nursing-home patients - all suffering from hypothermia. Abby and Pratt clash over the diagnosis of a fussy baby, while Moretti's ex-wife delivers some unsettling news, and Morris and Pratt get the results of their board exams. In an effort to go green, Morris buys an energy efficient car. Still feeling the strain of Luka's absence, Abby turns once more to the bottle.

    ER Series fourteen Coming Home Abby's bad attitude is grating on the rest of the staff so they're pleased when Luca returns a day early to surprise her at the hospital. Intern Harold's deft handling of a critical situation leaves Neela feeling rather proud. A phone call from Sarah interrupts Gates and Julia as they're enjoying their burgeoning romance and sends them rushing to her rescue.

    As she battles her old demons, Abby becomes alienated from her friends, and the arrival of Luca's brother from Croatia only makes her life more difficult. After the surprise departure of Moretti, the appointment of a new temporary ER chief doesn't go down well with some of the staff. A patient's racist son makes a deadly mistake. Gates tries to readjust to parenthood after Sarah returns to Chicago.

And in this 300th episode of the show, the staff take time to remember patients who have passed away.

    Former staff member Jeanie Boulet returns to the ER after her son Carlos is injured during a gym class. Sam finds she has a lot in common with a young woman nursing a badly injured ankle - and a terrible secret. Neela is distracted by the unexpected arrival of her cousin, but still manages to impress her colleagues with her medical skills. Still smarting after being passed over for promotion, Pratt makes a drastic decision.

  • Episode 12/19 Believe the Unseen

    Pratt lends his support to Abby when she finally meets Anspaugh and the board to talk about her future. The news is positive but she'll have to submit to constant monitoring to ensure she doesn't slip back into her old ways. Back on the wards, Abby spots a degenerative eye condition in a little foster girl who has been admitted to the ER after escaping a fire. Meanwhile, Harold and Morris discover they have more in common than they thought.

  • Episode 13/19 Atonement

    Pratt gets cold feet when Bettina tries to take their relationship to the next level. Neela joins the Ortho's hockey team but is shocked to see who they are playing in the first game. A prison doctor is brought into the ER after attempting to save a young boy from a freezing lake. Can Julia help him to let go of his guilt over a secret from the past?

  • Episode 14/19 Owner of a Broken Heart

    Pratt and the new doctor, Brenner, get off to a bad start when Brenner refuses to help out the interns. Gates treats a young transplant patient with a serious heart condition. On her way to Croatia, Abby contemplates telling Luka about her affair. Meanwhile, Sam discovers that Gates and Julia have broken up.

  • Episode 15/19 …As the Day She Was Born

    At the end of a long shift, Neela has a strange daydream, and must make a quick call on treating a patient (guest star Aida Turturro) with a torn aorta. Meanwhile, Sarah's grandfather is rushed to the ER after collapsing during a game of air hockey, and Gates only confuses Sam when he sends her flowers.

  • Episode 16/19 Truth Will Out

    Neela's upset when she discovers the surgery she performed on Sheryl Hawkins's aorta has caused an infection. Luka is struggling to forgive Abby her indiscretion, but an upbeat patient with a terminal illness makes a positive impression on him. Abby treats a Korean teen who's been badly beaten - and discovers an even more serious problem. And Dr Brenner continues to rub his colleagues up the wrong way.

  • Episode 17/19 Under Pressure

    Patients Rebecca and Daniel are admitted to the ER with injuries sustained in a car crash. They claim they were on their way to see Daniel's dying mother when the accident took place but the doctors become suspicious when they hear news of a jewellery store robbery carried out by a young couple. Meanwhile, Pratt fights to save his relationship with Bettina, and Abby tries not to worry when Luka asks for more space.

  • Episode 18/19 Tandem Repeats

    When Morris is asked to see a psychiatrist to talk through the incident with the jewellery thieves, he is adamant that he's over it. But the sight of some bullet-shattered glass unnerves him, forcing him to accept that he may need more help than he thought. Elsewhere, Brenner turns nasty after a night with Laverne, insulting and rejecting her while at the same time lavishing attention on a new 4th-year Mexican medical student.

  • Episode 19/19 The Chicago Way

    Pratt struggles to suppress his annoyance with drunken outpatient Arnie Markowitz (Steve Buscemi), until he discovers Arnie is a lawyer in the witness protection programme. Moretti shows up at the hospital and tries to talk to Abby and Luka but is met with hostility from both. Brenner and Morris clash over the treatment of an elderly Chinese woman who is suffering from seizures.
