Episode 1/12 It's Alive!
Things aren't going too well for Dexter Morgan. Suspicious Sergeant Doakes is tailing him wherever he goes. Girlfriend Rita's jailbird ex-husband Paul is claiming that Dexter framed him. His sister Debra is struggling to get over her traumatic experience with her serial killer fiancé Rudi. And since dispatching Rudi, his long-lost brother, Dexter can't perform in the bedroom - or the killing room. Last, but far from least, somewhere off the coast of Miami two scuba divers are about to make a gruesome discovery.

Episode 2/12 Waiting to Exhale
Following the discovery of Dexter's deep sea dumping ground, the FBI are in town to hunt the newly dubbed "Bay Harbor Butcher". Meanwhile, a murderous man mountain of a gangster, Little Chino, is causing the Miami Dade PD no end of trouble. Dexter should probably be keeping his head down but perhaps Little Chino could be the motivation he needs to get over his performance anxiety.
-
Episode 3/12 An Inconvenient Lie
Dexter is in a quandary. Having led Rita to believe he's a drug addict in order to explain away some of his more unusual behaviour, he's forced to attend regular Narcotics Anonymous meetings, which is seriously cutting into the time he has to stalk his new victim, a lady-killer of a car salesman. Then again, his NA programme does provide an unexpectedly interesting encounter with intriguing fellow addict Lila.
-
Episode 4/12 See-Through
Rita's estranged mother comes to visit and instantly senses there's something not right about Dexter. Even more worrying, Masuka may have found a lead in the Bay Harbor Butcher case. Meanwhile, Dexter has reluctantly agreed to make Lila his Narcotics Anonymous sponsor. And while he may not be keen to have someone following his every move, he may have more in common with Lila than he first imagined.
-
Episode 5/12 The Dark Defender
Dexter discovers that the man who brutally murdered his mother is still alive. When he confides in Lila, she persuades him that confronting the killer will be a step towards his recovery and insists on accompanying him on the journey to find him. What will Dexter's reaction be when he meets the man who made him a monster?
-
Episode 6/12 Dex, Lies and Videotape
Dexter's none too pleased that a copycat killer inspired by the Bay Harbor Butcher is dishing out his own brand of vigilante justice. Dexter must find a way to destroy an incriminating surveillance video of him cleaning his boat, and hunting down this "fan" is only going to get in the way. Meanwhile, Dexter's involvement with Lila threatens his relationship with Rita.
-
Episode 7/12 That Night, a Forest Grew
The Miami Dade Police Department is thrown into turmoil when a written manifesto from the Bay Harbour Butcher arrives at the station. That may have worked exactly as Dexter planned but meanwhile his relationship with Lila is spiralling out of control and Doakes's interest in Dexter is becoming too much too bear. Something has to be done about it.
-
Episode 8/12 Morning Comes
A fire in Lila's flat gives her the perfect excuse to seek more attention from Dexter. But he soon has more pressing concerns after he barely avoids a knife attack by Jimenez, the man who killed his mother. Jimenez escapes, but not for long - it's finally time for Dexter to get his brutal revenge. Meanwhile, a nosy neighbour gives Debra and Angel a lead that suggests the Bay Harbor Butcher is right under their noses. And Lundy and Debra go on a date.
-
Episode 9/12 Resistance is Futile
Debra and Lundy debate whether to go public with their relationship. Dexter, meanwhile, is attempting to distance himself from Lila but she keeps popping up at work, and getting friendly with Angel. Dexter soon has far more pressing concerns when Lundy calls him to his office and confronts him with a box of blood slides - Dexter's trophies.
-
Episode 10/12 There's Something about Harry
With Doakes in a cage at Jiminez's cabin, Dexter has some serious decisions to make. And when Doakes reveals a secret about Dexter's foster father Harry, Dexter finds himself even more confused. Will Rita's decision to let him back into her life help him decide? Meanwhile, Lila seduces a very willing Angel as part of a conniving plan that could ruin his life.
-
Episode 11/12 Left Turn Ahead
Dexter's plan to frame Doakes has been set in motion, yet he still has misgivings. Left alone, Doakes manages to escape from his cage. But he doesn't get far after running into some of Jiminez's associates. Lila accuses Angel of raping her in an attempt to blackmail Dexter into taking her back. And to complicate things further, she's about to discover one of Dexter's secrets
-
Episode 12/12 The British Invasion
Doakes dies in an explosion after Lila deliberately leaves the gas on at the cabin in order to protect Dexter's secret. Lundy and the FBI are convinced they have their man, and while things may not have worked out exactly as Dexter planned them, at least he lives to kill another day. Now, where to begin
