Glenn Close stars as New York litigator Patty Hewes in this hard-edged legal thriller, which uses flashbacks to slowly unravel the dark and complex truth behind a high-profile case. Revered and reviled in equal measure, Hewes doesn't let morals get in the way of winning. When she chooses ambitious young lawyer Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) as her protégé, Ellen is thrilled. But as their firm pursues a class action for damages against former CEO Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson), Ellen discovers what kind of world she has entered. The price of success is high, with lives, as well as reputations, at stake.
