Kenny Ortega directs the third instalment in Disney's phenomenally popular musical franchise and once again it'll be seen as a winning formula by its target audience. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens reprise their roles as sweethearts Troy and Gabriella, who are now dealing with the pressures of their final year at high school as graduation looms. Relationships come under strain and there are difficult decisions to make about college, sporting ambition — and love. It may seem like a rehash of the first two films, but the problems of these wholesome characters will no doubt strike a chord with enthusiastic pre-teens. And, of course, the serious moments are interspersed with plenty of cute songs and nifty dance numbers that are likely to win over even the most sceptical of older viewers. DA
