The radio DJ skated all the way to victory on Sunday, 14th March, beating the likes of Faye Brookes, who came second, and Colin Jackson.

Following his win, he said: “That is mental. Thank you so much."

He added: "I wanted to come out of this competition being able to skate with a beer in my hand – now I can do that and I've won the whole thing! I feel like I've completed life."

Brookes finished in second place with her partner Matt Evers, and said she was happy to have made it to the final, as she congratulated Sonny on his win.

"All I wanted to do was get here. I did it as a personal challenge, I’ve made it here, and [the trophy] couldn’t have gone to a better guy," she said.

Despite scoring perfect 40s, Jackson came third with his skating partner Klabera Komini and was voted off earlier in the competition.

The two finalists in the Dancing on Ice 2021 line-up then skated the Bolero, an interpretation of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean's most famous routine, with the public vote deciding who was eventually crowned the winner.

During the final, Jay received an impressive grand total of 79.5, just half a point of the total score.
