The intelligent person’s series continues with a programme devoted to the great British philosopher and thinker, Bertrand Russell, the man
who gave the inaugural Reith Lecture at the BBC in 1948.

What would he have made of the recent resignations of the director-general and the criticisms of the network’s news output? He was a great logician, so one cannot help but hope that he would have weighed up the good that the BBC’s journalists have done over the years and argued a case in favour of public service broadcasting.

Melvyn Bragg and his estimable guests will have much to ponder upon here.

Melvyn Bragg and his guests examine the legacy of British thinker Bertrand Russell, regarded as one of the founders of Analytical philosophy, and who also became a prominent political activist and anti-war campaigner, playing an important role in promoting the public's understanding of ideas.
