New series. Dr Mark Turin, associate research scientist at Yale's South Asian Studies Council, presents the first of three programmes on linguistic diversity and the fate of some of the world's endangered languages. He begins with a trip to east Nepal, to examine the taxonomy of the Thangmi tongue, which adds profoundly meaningful suffixes to many words, but is in danger of becoming obsolete.
