Review

Conductor John Wilson and his high-octane orchestra have already brought some great show and film music to the Proms (most recently an acclaimed concert performance of My Fair Lady) and here they — plus some starry soloists, including Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane (see the interview on p116) and the Maida Vale Singers — pay tuneful tribute to the Broadway Sound.

That means a glorious soundscape of the Great White Way, an exhilarating excursion that takes in Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Leonard Bernstein and Richard Rodgers by way of such classics as Show Boat, South Pacific, Kiss Me, Kate, Guys and Dolls, Porgy and Bess and West Side Story.
