Radio Times' own Gillian Reynolds assists Dead Ringers mistress of impersonations Jan Ravens in analysing radio’s lone and lengthy relationship with parody.

As Gillian rightly points out, parody only works when we have  warm feelings towards the individual involved — these range from the Archers cast list to the BBC political editor Laura  Kuenssberg.

My personal  highlight is an early episode of On the Hour (the joint creation of Armando Iannucci and Chris Morris, also the launch pad for Alan Partridge, aka Steve Coogan).

A selection of popular radio personalities co-present an exploration of the medium's long history of self-parody, with contributions from Jan Ravens.
