The Woman Who Invented James Bond?

Sat 10 Dec 10:30am - 11am BBC Radio 4 FM

Miles Jupp investigates the life and work of Phyllis Bottome, the American novelist and tutor who may have invented the character of James Bond, seven years before he would appear in Ian Fleming's first 007 novel Casino Royale. Bottome came into contact with the young Fleming when he attended The Tennerhof in Kitzbühel, Austria, a private school run by Bottome's former MI6 agent husband.
