Editor of The Wire magazine Derek Walmsley recently said that spiritual music 'has the capacity to turn your world upside down, even it you're not a believer'. He joins Verity Sharp with two selections from deep within the cosmos; a Buddhist preacher from Thailand who wrote an ode to sex which places him in the lineage of Al Green and other lovermen preachers and a piece from the Congolese group Kasai Allstars which conjures the spirits. Also on the programme music from the outer reaches of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, improvisations from AACM member, composer and trombone player George Lewis and under guidance from Chris Cobilis Chicago's Spektral Quartet interpret music for a series of slapstick home videos.
