With Penny Gore. Another chance to hear the Prom from August 24th. The São Paulo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop perform dances from Russia and Latin America, and are joined by Gabriela Montera for Grieg's Piano Concerto. Presented by Ian Skelly at the Royal Albert Hall, London. 2pm Marlos Nobre: Kabbalah Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor c.2.40. Villa-Lobos: Bachianas Brasileiras No 4. Prelude Rachmaninov: Symphonic Dances. Gabriela Montera (piano), São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, Marin Alsop (conductor). This year's Proms focus on Latin America in the year when the Olympic Games go to Rio de Janeiro heats up with a visit from the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, under its chief conductor Marin Alsop. Their concert is bookended by infectious, furious dances from Marlos Nobre and Rachmaninov. In between comes music from the doyen of South American composers, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and a performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto for which the orchestra is joined by Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero.
