Judges Ian McMillan, Jackie Kay and Judith Palmer are joined on stage by winning poets Anna Kisby and Lucy Thynne, whose writing has been prompted by music from this year's Proms. The reader is Stella Gonet. Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet, the David Bowie Prom, Elgar on the opening night and Michael Tippett's A Child of Our Time are amongst the concerts which have produced a range of poetic responses but whether they have led to the winning poems we will hear tonight in a Proms Extra event recorded in front of an audience at Beit Hall, Imperial College before tonight's concert. Ian McMillan is a poet and presenter of Radio 3's The Verb. Jackie Kay is the third poet to take up the position of Makar, Scotland's Poet Laureate. Judith Palmer is director of the Poetry Society.
