As he approaches his 80th birthday, author Alan Garner explains how he draws inspiration for his novels from the Bronze Age past of his Cheshire home and its proximity to the Jodrell Bank radio telescope. Martin Goodman, Professor of Creative Writing at Hull University, also revisits the places that make Garner's books so memorable, including locations on Alderley Edge itself, an outcrop of rock in Cheshire, with dramatic views of the Pennines.
