The Eccentric Entrepreneur

The Eccentric Entrepreneur

Dominic Sandbrook presents the story of Leonard Plugge - the magnate whose non-BBC radio stations made millions of pounds and rocked Britain during the 1930s. The Tory MP created a series of successful commercial stations in France and beyond that challenged John Reith's monopoly of the airwaves with popular music and variety shows. Dominic is joined by Leonard's son Frank to look through his father's diaries and scrapbooks to give an insight into how he became a worldwide celebrity. Includes archive contributions by Roy Plomley and Bob Danvers-Walker.
