You Know Nothing about April Fools Day, Jon Snow

If you are a regular on Game of Thrones, you might well have a replica of your head lying around.

Which is perfect for an April Fools joke, you might also think.

But for Kit Harington, the actor who plays Westerosi legend Jon Snow, an April 1st prank played on his former co-star and fiancée Rose Leslie, using the prop in question, backfired in some style.

Harington left the replica head in the fridge – but Leslie didn’t necessarily see the funny side…

“My family does April Fools,” he tells the Jonathan Ross Show this Saturday. “Her family doesn’t do April Fools. She didn’t know the date and after that she was in tears. And I was there going, ‘April Fools!’ It didn’t go down well. It was far [from] the reaction I had hoped for. When my laughing died down, it took some making up… She pretty much told me if I did it ever again that would be it and I think that’s marriage included.”

Liv Tyler, Harington’s co-star on his new BBC1 17th-century drama Gunpowder, added: “He came to work and was bragging about it.”

Still, Harington hasn’t given up on the idea of taking one other souvenir from the show as he prepares to embark on filming the final series.

“I’ve had my eye on [my] sword since season one. Long Claw. They are not going to give it to me, it’s too valuable now… I ask every year. I am going to ask this year more than ever.”

“It could go missing?” Tyler suggested.

“They’ll hunt me down,” said Harington.
