Steven was killed off in Friday’s episode of the BBC1 soap, just as Jane was being rescued from the fire at Beales’ restaurant. And it seems that his untimely demise will have major repercussions in the weeks ahead.

Monday’s episode will see the residents of Albert Square grieving for the loss of Steven, with the burden of guilt becoming too much for Lauren, who finds herself reaching for the bottle.

As long-time fans know, Lauren is putting herself in grave danger by drinking, having been diagnosed with acute alcoholic hepatitis back in 2013. At the time, she was told that one more drink could kill her, so might she end up being an unexpected fatality?

Later in the week, Abi will discover that Lauren has hit the bottle and will ask dad Max to keep an eye on her, all the while keeping the fact that her sister has been drinking a secret.

However, Max is soon called away by Sharon with news from the hospital – has Jane pulled through? And are Max’s own secrets about to be exposed?
