Stephen King, Mark Hamill and John Carpenter are amongst the big names in film who have paid tribute to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre director Tobe Hooper.
Hooper passed away at the age of 74, with Variety reporting that the Poltergeist the Salem’s Lot director died from natural causes in California.
The news prompted tributes to flood in from the world of horror and film:
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was filmed in just six weeks for under £128,000 and used real skeletons as props in the movie.
Away from horror, Hooper intriguingly also directed the music video for Billy Idol’s Dancing With Myself.
Although he continued to work in TV and film until recently, it was Hooper’s work in the 1970s and 80s for which he is most remembered.
