Love Island’s Montana and Alex have confirmed their split.

Taking to Twitter to announce their break-up, Montana took something of a swipe at Alex as she released a statement about the end of their relationship:

“Making our relationship work on the outside has been hard,” she said. “He hasn’t been the same since coming out of the villa.”

Intriguing. He, on the other hand, said: “I still have strong feelings towards her and will be remaining close friends and supporting her throughout everything.”

And we thought it was true love. Well, maybe it was for him.

Just a week ago, the pair were on Love Island: The Reunion rebuffing claims that they had broken up saying they definitely hadn’t split.

Probed by Caroline Flack on whether they’d gone their separate ways, Alex said: “Definitely not.”

It turns out a week is a long time outside the villa.

The news comes just a day after reports swirled that Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes had also split up.

When Olivia was photographed engaging in what looked like some rather muggy behaviour with her ex-boyfriend and Blackburn Rovers footballer Bradley Dack, everyone thought it was the end for the Love Island runners-up.

However, Olivia took to Twitter to firmly tell everyone to calm down over the whole situation:

And also paid homage to Chris along the way:

Meanwhile Chris posted on Instagram that “manipulation is powerful in the public eye” (deep) and that “unfortunately Olivia put herself in this position unintentionally.”

He added: “Nobody understands the situation like ourselves, and that’s the main point behind today.”
