Neighbours is lining up a hard-hitting plot for Terese Willis as she learns next week she has breast cancer.

As the discovery of a suspicious lump leads the Erinsborough businesswoman to undergo medical tests, she puts a brave face on as she awaits the results of a biopsy. Daughter Piper and fiance Gary Canning are concerned, but tough Terese tells them she doesn't want to dwell on it.

When the results come back clear Terese is initially relieved, but a phone call from her cousin reveals her grandmother had breast cancer and she wonders whether she should take the test again to be 100% sure. Dr David Tanaka, who did the first round of tests, agrees with his patient, but Terese decides to keep the second test to herself for the time being...

A few days later, anxious Terese meets with Dr Karl Kennedy to get the next set of results. Hoping her extra caution will mean she can put the whole thing behind her, she's stunned when Karl delivers the news - she has breast cancer.

How will Terese cope with this health bombshell? Will she confide in her family or decide to fight this alone and say nothing? She's one of the strongest women in Ramsay Street, but can Terese really do this on her own?

Neighbours airs these emotional scenes on Friday 30 June, and airs every weekday on Channel 5 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm.
