Almost 60 years since it took second place at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1968, Sir Cliff Richard’s Congratulations has been voted the Best UK Eurovision entry of all time.
The iconic tune – which lost out by a single point to Spain’s La La La at the Grand Final in London’s Royal Albert Hall – topped a poll of more than 4,000 RadioTimes.com readers, taking top honours with 26% of the vote ahead of Bucks Fizz’s 1981 Eurovision winner Making Your Mind Up.

The singer, who went on to have enormous chart success with the track, expressed his love for songwriters Bill Martin and Phil Coulter’s pop composition.

1972 entrants The New Seekers came third in the poll with Beg, Steal or Borrow nabbing 7%, while the UK’s 1997 Eurovision winner, Love Shine a Light came fourth, and Nicki French’s Play That Song Again (2000) took fifth place.
