Coronation Street has revealed the first details of Rosie Webster's comeback to the ITV soap in the new year.

Actress Helen Flanagan has recently begun filming again, ahead of an on-screen return in February 2017 when Rosie arrives back with sister Sophie in tow.

A Corrie spokesperson said of the upcoming storyline: "Sophie lands back on the cobbles and, along with her holiday souvenirs, she has also brought back a surprise visitor for Sally and Kevin – big sister Rosie.

"On the surface it looks like Rosie has been living the high life in the States, but all is not what it seems as yet again Rosie brings a whole load of trouble to the Websters’ door."

These new plotline revelations follows hints by show boss Kate Oates back in October that the resurfacing of Rosie would cause problems for Sophie:

"Rosie is such a colourful character - I thought it'd be great for Sophie. I wanted to see Sophie led up the garden path a little bit and to see her in a bit of trouble. And I think that Rosie will cause Sophie a lot of headaches."

Flanagan, 26, said recently: "I'm so excited to be returning to Coronation Street and being part of the Webster family again."
