Emmerdale star John Middleton has hinted that Ashley Thomas could be a victim of next week’s high profile tragedy.
The ITV soap has revealed that carnage and devastation will rock the Dales, but might Ashley – who is suffering with early onset vascular dementia – be one of those breathing their last?
Said Middleton: “We know that Ashley is going to be involved in an event that will lead to the death of at least one character. We already know that there can only be one outcome for Ashley’s story, but what we don’t know is when.
“This could be the end for Ashley. His journey that day is already heartbreaking, but this event leads to further tragedy and that could mean further heartache for Ashley’s family.”
Each of next week’s episodes of Emmerdale will depict the same 24-hour period but from a different character’s perspective, with an increasingly confused Ashley set to experience difficulties at his daughter Dotty’s christening.
At the church, Ashley’s stunned by sensory overload and forgets what’s going on. He tells everyone he’s forgotten who the parents are and cries when he realises it’s his own daughter he’s holding.
But pretty soon, Ashley’s story starts to converge with the likes of Robert, Aaron, Rhona, James and Emma as a terrible event brings death to the village.
Speaking about the upcoming drama, Middleton added: “This is the best thing Emmerdale has ever done and it’s going to look incredible.
“It’s completely out of the ordinary for Emmerdale and we’ve used very expensive cameras that are usually used on drama productions. It’s going to have a very special feel to it and it certainly had that when we were filming it.”
