This fan has spotted a very neat new Doctor Who Star Wars crossover

Star Wars: A Rogue One Story is set to feature a familiar Doctor Who face – although you almost certainly won't recognise him...

We’re still many parsecs away from Han Solo and Chewbacca materialising in a Tardis, but one fan just spotted a tight connection between Doctor Who and Star Wars that will almost certainly have passed you by.

The first thing you need to know, courtesy of Who Redditor TheOncomingBrows, is that David Prowse – the man who played the physical Darth Vader before he was dubbed over by James Earl Jones – also appeared in old Doctor Who.

The 6′ 5″ actor played a Minotaur in the 1972 episode of Doctor Who The Time Monster. Here he is in all his bullish glory.

But hasn’t a minotaur appeared in new Who too?

Yes, the mythical creature/alien appeared in The Shining-inspired 2011 episode The God Complex. And (interesting fact klaxon), the creature was played by Spencer Wilding, the same Spencer Wilding rumoured to be playing Vader in the upcoming Star Wars Flick Rogue One.

In fact, if Wilding has the part then both actors will have played a minotaur in Who five years before playing Vader in Star Wars. Just a coincidence? Or is there something more at work here?
