Gilmore Girls superfan Kristi Carlson has a dream: to cook and eat like the residents of Star Hollow. With pumpkin pancakes served with apple butter, Luke’s style cheeseburgers and salmon puffs the Dragonfly Inn would be proud to serve, who couldn’t get on board with that?
With the help of Kickstarter, and some peckish Gilmore-lovers, she’s making it come true: “This project is specifically designed for people like me – who love the same two things – and who recognise thatfoodis its own quirky, ever-present character in that world,” writes Carlson.
“I’ve already spent a few months experimenting with these foods – to test the feasibility of this endeavour. And, let me tell you, the results have all been utterly delicious.”
It sounds like the perfect way to get ready for when Gilmore Girls returns on Netflix.
Carlson is planning on writing at least 60 recipes reflecting the cuisine of Stars Hollow, each falling under one of three categories: small-town diner, fancy friday night dinners, and low-key, independent inns. But she’ll write more if she beats her fundraising target. And that looks rather likely.
Carslon still has three and a half weeks until her Kickstarter deadline but Gilmore Girls fans have already pledged over $19,000 of her $20,000 target.
