Cuffs has been cancelled. The BBC1 cop drama – starring Amanda Abbington, Ashley Walters and Shaun Dooley – finished airing its first series last night but, as the credits rolled, the cast broke the news on Twitter that the BBC had opted not to recommission.
A statement later confirmed that while the BBC were “very proud” of Cuffs, it had been cancelled “in order to create space for new shows”.
The BBC1 series had climbed in the overnight ratings, recording a respectable 3.15 million viewers for Wednesday night’s finale.
Abbington is “gutted”, and fans have been expressing their disappointment on social media, but we want to know what you think? Yes, you!
Should Cuffs have been granted another series and a chance to bed in and grow its fan base? Or was it the right decision to jail it for good?
