Vimeo follows in Netflix and Amazon’s footsteps announcing first slate of original shows

The video sharing website is set to drop three original commissions on demand later this year


Vimeo is following in the footsteps of Netflix and Amazon Prime into the the world of original on demand programming. The video sharing site has today announced its first slate of original shows, including a feature film and a stand-up comedy special. 


A second series of The Outs, the critically acclaimed web series from Adam Goldman and Sasha Winters, will land on exclusively Vimeo On Demand later this year, as will Darby Forever, a short film from Saturday Night Live cast member Aidy Bryant.

Bryant stars as Darby, a shop-girl at Bobbins & Notions, “a fabric store in a nameless town that is both ordinary and bizarre.”

Original stand-up special Bianca Del Rio’s Rolodex of Hate Comedy Special: Live from Austin completes the new line-up.

“This new slate of Vimeo Originals exemplifies the fresh, unique voices of Vimeo creators who are propelling online storytelling and entertainment to new levels of quality,” said Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor, CEO, Vimeo.


There are currently over 25K titles available for purchase on Vimeo’s on demand platform, including films, animations, documentaries and music videos.
