It’s been a while since David Tennant slipped his sci-fi shoes on, but now we know when next we’ll spy him in a superhero scenario because Marvel/Netflix collaboration Jessica Jones FINALLY has an air date.
The new series – in which Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter plays the titular role of Jessica, a former superhero now working as a private detective in a hero-filled New York City and attempting to rebuild her shattered life – will premiere on November 20th, 2015 at 8:01am GMT in all territories where Netflix is available.
Tennant plays the show’s villain, Kilgrave, whom comic books fans may recognise as the alter-ego of super-powered villain The Purple Man (below, though in the comics it’s spelt Killgrave, with the first name Zebediah), who can use pheromones to control the minds of others.
Is it just us or is that our Dave whispering Jessica in the announcement?
Tennant and Rytter are joined by Mike Colter (from Marvel’s Luke Cage), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Wil Traval. Originally titled AKA Jessica Jones, the show is the second of four epic live action adventure series (Marvel’s Daredevil, which launched April 10th, Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron Fist, all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in Marvel’s The Defenders) to premiere only on Netflix.
“It is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without” the official synopsis claims.
The show will premiere, much like Marvel’s Daredevil, with 13 one-hour episodes. So there’ll be plenty of timey-wimey to catch up with DT himself.
