The 12 best music videos featuring Hollywood stars

By

Remember how Monica kept trying to get her dancing on TV during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve? Well, she'd be proud of the fact that she's finally made it into a music video.

OK, it's really Courteney Cox who's having a rockstar moment — but there's basically no difference between Friends and reality, right?

The actress has popped up in Irish rock band Kodaline's new video Love Will Set You Free (at about two minutes 40), co-written by her fiancé, Snow Patrol singer Johnny McDaid. Cox also directed the video in which the band hang out in her (extremely nice) LA pad.

But she isn't the first actor to make an appearance behind musicians, oh no.

We've gathered together the 11 best music videos featuring our favourite actors in random shenanigans.

 1. Tom Hanks, Carly Rae Jepsen "I Really Like You"

It's completely weird and wonderful seeing Hanks lip sync along to this female voice as he walks around telling us, over and over again, "I really, really, really, really, really [yes, she sings it five times] like you..."

2. Christopher Walken, Fatboy Slim "Weapon of Choice"

Who knew Walken’s weapon of choice would be his dancing skills…

3. Daniel Radcliffe, Slow Club "Beginners"

It's quite strange seeing Harry Potter in a brightly-hued Hawaiian T-shirt and a five o'clock shadow...

4. Courteney Cox, Bruce Springsteen "Dancing in the Dark"

Kodaline isn't Courteney's first music video appearance. In her pre-Friends era, she was swaying her hips with Springsteen in the dark…

5. Andrew Garfield, Arcade Fire "We Exist"

The Spider-man actor traded in his red and blue suit to play the more emotional role of someone exploring their gender identity…

6. Aubrey Plaza, Father John Misty "Hollywood Forever Cemetery"

Smoking, throwing décor, eating flowers and hitting singer Josh Tillman, the Parks and Recreation actress carries on her dark side, nose all crusty with blood…

7. Aziz Ansari, Kanye West & Jay-Z "Otis"

And on that note, another Parks and Rec star has been seen rolling in Yeezy and Jay’s deconstructed Maybach…

8. Natalie Portman, Devendra Banhart "Carmensita"

A Princess Carmensita Saplingita draped in jewels is a fitting role for the Black Swan actress in her ex-boyfriend's Bollywood-style video…

9. Christina Hendricks, Broken Bells "Ghost Inside"

The feisty Mad Men star plays a Hollywood-glam girl who ends up being an android trying to travel to outer space…

10. Thomas Brodie-Sangster, The Luka State "30 Minute Break"

A captivating performance from the former Game of Thrones star who finds himself bruised and beaten in a narrative about domestic violence…

11. Almost every comedian you can think of, Beastie Boys "Make Some Noise"

In the ultimate music video cast of all videos, Elijah Wood, Danny McBride and Seth Rogen portray the Beastie Boys and start a beer-soaked riot in the streets. The star-studded cast also includes just a few more famous cameos: Will Ferrell, John C Reilly, Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny, Jack Black, Kirsten Dunst, Maya Rudolph, Orlando Bloom, David Cross and Ted Danson…
