Gogglebox’s Sandy rules herself out of The Jump: I’ll stick with the sofa

This sassy Gogglebox-er has absolutely no interest in going up (or down) a mountain, thank you very much

Sandy from Gogglebox has zero interest in flinging herself down a mountain for Channel 4’s winter sports-themed reality show The Jump, admitting she’d rather stick to sitting on her sofa.

“I can’t ski! No, it’s not for me. I’d break my nails,” the TV lover laughed, showing off her perfectly manicured talons that, admittedly, she’d struggle to actually fit inside a pair of ski gloves.

I apparently wasn’t the first person to ask Sandy if she’d be taking on the nerve-shredding show. The Gogglebox star was on hand at a Channel 4 press event last night to promote their upcoming shows, so naturally next year’s third series of The Jump was on people’s minds. In fact, when I mentioned it, others joined the conversation in an attempt to convince her of its merits: Sandy on the slopes is clearly something people want to see.

But she seemed genuinely shocked that anyone would want to see her flying off a ski jump – “I’m not going up any mountain!” – and as others started chipping in with stories of their own skiing disasters, she was even less keen: “Now you’re just telling me all the bad stuff!”

Fellow Gogglebox star Dom Parker did it, I nudged, but she was having none of it. “No, no, no…”

Shame. Imagine Sandra watching from the sidelines? Priceless telly.

A source close to the show did confirm the line-up is currently being discussed, so exactly who will be donning the lycra in a bid for cow bell glory will soon be revealed. But unless Sandy can go down the slope on her sofa, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing her take part.

The Jump returns to Channel 4 next year

Mary, Giles and the the show’s creators will be at Radio Times Festival on Friday 25th September. Gogglebox’s “posh couple” will also be sharing their very particular opinions on modern manners in Steph and Dom’s Guide to Life on Saturday 26th September. Tickets to both events are available here.
