TOWIE’s Ferne McCann admits she’s “obsessed” with ITV2 reality show Love Island and could be persuaded to take part if it returned to its roots with a celebrity version.
“If I’m single, why not? Give it a whirl,” Ferne told RadioTimes.com. “It looks like a lot of fun.”
She might need a bit of cajoling, though, given her first response was: “it depends who’s going in”, that it might not be her “cup of tea” and she would “prefer to do the jungle”. She clearly thinks critters would be more enjoyable than all the cream-pie business.
But Ferne might not actually need a whole new series of Love Island to find someone who catches her eye. Current islander and former cricket hunk Max Morley is ticking the right boxes. “I’m looking forward to Max coming out. I might give him a little follow on Twitter,” Ferne laughed. “He’s beautiful, isn’t he?”
Ferne joined host Caroline Flack as a panelist on last night’s show alongside none other than Paul Danan. Yep, the Love Island veteran returned, having got into the mushy stuff on both the 2005 and 2006 series of the show. Strictly stars Ola and James Jordan were also on hand for a chat as was Ex on the Beach’s Jess Impiazzi as Jordan and Zoe were dumped from the Mallorca-based villa. As Ferne put it: “No one can trust a man with Pokemon in his ears”
As yet there’s been no word on whether the show will return at all, let alone with a celebrity version. But given its increasing popularity – viewing figures have almost doubled since launch – ITV2 may look to offer both versions of the show. Danan, keep those swim shorts on standby.
