There are not many shows that can get away with an immortal pan-sexual who can travel through time, but then there not many characters like Captain Jack Harkness.

Ever since his introduction in series one two-parter The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances, John Barrowman’s Jack has become a fan-favourite for his action chops, quotable one-liners and his ability to flirt with literally anything. So much so, in fact, that he even got his own spin-off show: Torchwood.

He may be able to live forever, but so will his assortment of flirty quips – and Captain Jack always has one for even the most dire of circumstances. In Journey’s End, the Doctor finds himself cloned during a metacrisis, making two Doctors, and Donna infused with a Time Lord brain. “So there’s three of you?” Sarah-Jane asks. Quicker than a rocket, Jack replies, “I can’t tell you what I’m thinking right now.” Oh, Jack.
