We asked you what TV show you couldn’t live without on Christmas Day – and Doctor Who won by an impressive majority.

Over 1,100 RadioTimes.com readers had their say with 52% choosing the hit BBC sci-fi show as the TV they’d watch if they could only sit down in front of one programme this Christmas Day.

Doctor Who, starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, beat of competition from the likes of Downton Abbey, EastEnders and the Queen’s speech to get to the top spot.

Fans are currently waiting with baited breath for the upcoming festive episode, which is set to star Nick Frost as Father Christmas, to find out if Coleman’s Clara will depart the show.

ITV period drama Downton Abbey, which follows the lives, loves and scandals of the aristocratic Crawley family and their staff in 1920s Yorkshire, came in second with 18% of the votes. EastEnders (9%), Strictly Come Dancing (7%) and Call the Midwife (6%) made up the rest of the top five.
