EastEnders’s executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed that Stan Carter’s ex-wife Sylvie will be on screen very shortly and that her introduction will cause ructions within the family.
When asked when viewers could expect to see Sylvie, the BBC1 soap’s boss replied: “Imminently! We’re on the brink of casting Sylvie now and she’ll change the Carter dynamic yet again. She brings with her some meaty stuff for Shirley and Mick – but mostly for Stan.”
The news follows the announcement back in August that the much-talked-about but never actually seen Sylvie would eventually be brought into EastEnders. At the time, a spokesperson said: “We can officially confirm that Sylvie will be appearing in the show at some point.”
Fans have been wondering about the whereabouts of Sylvie ever since Aunt Babe (Annette Badland) was revealed to have a mystery houseguest whose identity was concealed from viewers. Now it looks as though Sylvie’s arrival will question all we know about the personality of Stan.
In an interview with Inside Soap, Treadwell-Collins added: “Timothy West is a brilliant actor and he’s not vain. In fact, he has come up to me to complain that Stan is too nice and he wants to make him more unpleasant!”
