Hugh Grant returns to his rom-com roots in the first trailer for The Rewrite

If you loved About a Boy and Music and Lyrics, Hugh Grant’s latest rom-com The Rewrite will be right up your street. Grant plays fallen-from-grace screenwriter Keith Michaels who, once a happily married Golden Globe winner, is now divorced, broke and out of ideas.

But Keith is given a second chance when his agent finds him a job as a university lecturer, aiming to teach students how to write films. It's hardly his dream gig but his enthusiasm soon steps up a notch when he meets single mum Holly (Marisa Tomei) and realises they have something in common: the desire for a second shot.

Yes, it all sounds quite "Music and Lyrics" - man grappling with life as a washed-up has-been - but that should come as no surprise given that Marc Lawrence was in the director's chair for both projects.

Also starring The West Wing's Allison Janney, JK Simmons and Bella Heathcote, The Rewrite is released in UK cinemas on 8th October 2014. Take a look at the first trailer below...
