Downton Abbey’s Lady Mary is teaming up with Mad Men’s Peggy Olson. Though, before you get too excited, I think it’s important I point out they won’t actually be in character.
Michelle Dockery, who plays the eldest Crawley sister Mary in the hit ITV period drama, has been cast opposite Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss in a new film.
The actresses, who are both 32, will act alongside each other in Queen of the Earth, which will be directed by Alex Ross Perry and produced by Drinking Buddies director Joe Swanberg.
Queen of the Earth will follow two best friends (Dockery and Moss) who grew up together but have drifted apart. The women visit a beach house to get a break from their stressful lives and then “realise how disconnected from each other they have become, allowing their suspicions to bleed into reality,” reports The Hollywood Reporter.
We might know and love Dockery for her role as icy-hearted, quick-tongued Mary, but this will be far from her first foray into the world of film. She’s starred in Non-Stop, Anna Karenina, Hanna as well as upcoming film Selfless, alongside Ryan Reynolds, Ben Kingsley and Matthew Goode.
Elisabeth Moss, who non-Mad Men fans might recognise from last year’s BBC2 drama Top of The Lake, has also starred in Girl, Interrupted, Get Him To The Greek and Did You Hear About the Morgans?
