Boy-band-member-signs-up-for-Strictly klaxon! Yep, we’ve had the girl band member in the form of Frankie Bridge of the Saturdays, now it’s Simon Webbe from Blue who’s confirmed he’s on board for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
I’s not the first time Webbe has been on the shiny floor. He had a bash at the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2011, dancing the cha-cha with professional partner Katya Virshilas.
He’s also been in the jungle taking part in 2008’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! so this should be a walk (or should that be Tango?) in the park, right?
“I am so happy to be joining the team and I cannot wait to get started. I’m hopeful that Strictly Come Dancing will help me to improve on my daddy dancing skills. I want to make my daughter proud and no doubt she will be teaching me a pirouette or two along the way” said Webbe on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
Webbe blasted onto the music scene in 2001 with Blue’s debut single All Rise. They achieved 40 number ones worldwide and sold 16 million records, including hits such as One Love and Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word.
The band did split, much to fans’ disappointment, in 2004. But they reformed again in 2009, taking part in ITV’s Big Reunion documentary and arena tour.
This year’s 12th series is shaping up nicely, with Webbe joining Thom Evans, Judy Murray and Alison Hammond as well as Frankie Bridge, with plenty more names on the way…
