Jailbird Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) is to get a prison visit from estranged wife Liz (Beverley Callard).
In scenes to be shown on Friday 29 August, Jim will be seen telling his missus just how much he misses her, but Liz is quick to point out that he only has himself to blame for being behind bars.
Jim tries to convince Liz that underneath she still loves him – but will she soften?
“Jim’s love for Liz is what defines him,” says actor Charles Lawson. “It’s a good job that his path doesn’t cross with Tony – Liz is his woman. Jim knows which buttons to press and, yes, under it all Liz will still love Liz and vice versa. They’re the Burton and Taylor of Weatherfield. I hope the writers keep that as a constant, as while that’s the case, there’s scope to bring me back.”
But with Liz later telling Steve (Simon Gregson) and Michelle (Kym Marsh) that Jim hasn’t changed a bit and that she wants nothing to do with him, it isn’t exactly looking rosy for the tempestuous pair.
