Things might not be much fun for the characters of The Maze Runner, trapped inside a terrifying labyrinth with no idea who they are or how to get out, but the actors sure seemed to have a good time.
Well, when the cast is jam-packed with hip young talent from the Hollywood scene it’s easy to see why. In fact, in preparation for the big-screen adaptation of James Dashner’s novel, they all spent the night camping together to get used to maze life and bond as a team.
Among the bumper crop of talent is Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien, who takes on the central role of Thomas. He’s the last boy ever to enter the maze, quickly realising he remembers more than his fellow residents – or Gladers as they’re known. He’s positive there must be a way out and sets about breaking just about every rule to prove it.
Attempting to build a sustainable community inside the Glade is the rather angry Gally, played by Bafta-winning Will Poulter (We’re the Millers) as well as an authoritative Thomas Brodie-Sangster who plays Newt. Since starring as lovestruck young Sam in Love Actually, Brodie-Sangster has provided the voice for Ferb in children’s favourite Phineas and Ferb, as well as starring in TV smash-hit Game of Thrones.
Skins star Kaya Scodelario, takes on the role of Teresa, the only female ever to enter the maze and jokes that working on the film has left her with a whole troop of new brothers.
