Emmerdale will continue its recent tradition of big October storylines with a new plot centred around Charity Macey (Emma Atkins).
In the last couple of years, the ITV soap has kickstarted its autumn season with grand spectacles such as the killing of Carl King in 2013 (shown live to mark Emmerdale's 40th anniversary) and last year's siege at the Woolpack that saw off murderer Cameron Murray.
Speaking about what awaits viewers in 2014, series producer Kate Oates said today: "It's definitely going to be a big autumn. We've got a short tradition now of trying to go really big in the autumn. I don't necessarily want us to get into a place where we're tying ourselves in knots to do a stunt every October because then it stops becoming about story and starts becoming about being in competition with yourself.
"But we have got a massive storyline coming up in the autumn - and it may be Charity in the firing line this time. You'll just have to see what happens there. But it'll go quite dark."
Viewers have been waiting for the soap gods to dispense justice on Charity ever since she framed Rachel (Gemma Oaten) for the fire at Home Farm over Christmas. In recent months, fans have also seen her covering for a secret termination by telling husband Declan (Jason Merrells) that she had a miscarriage.
In the coming week, Charity will be seen meeting with a flirty client by the name of Harvey, who propositions her in exchange for a lucrative deal. But will Charity be tempted in order to get an order? Find out when Emmerdale airs these particular scenes on Thursday.
