Charlotte Ritchie is already getting stuck into life at Nonnatus House.
The Fresh Meat star, who plays newbie nurse Barbara Gilbert, can be seen in her iconic trench coat in the busy streets of Poplar. Though, it looks like she could do with hopping on her bicycle…
Barbara, who is a young and naive addition to Nonnatus, joins series four of the hit BBC1 period drama and is set to bring a little chaos to the lives of the nuns and midwives.
She already looks as though she’s running late in this picture, as she sprints past the people of Poplar, delivery bag and red cap in hand.
24-year-old Ritchie, who also stars in new BBC3 sitcom Siblings, joins the cast alongside Linda Bassett, who is set to play experienced midwife Phyllis Crane. The pair join returning cast members Helen George, Miranda Hart, Pam Ferris, Laura Main and Bryony Hannah.
The fourth series of Call the Midwife rejoins the gang in 1960 “on the cusp of much change in London’s East End” which will bring “different and exciting challenges” for the cardigan-sporting midwives.
Call the Midwife returns for a Christmas special and an 8-part series later this year
