The much-talked-about but never actually seen Sylvie Carter is to be introduced to EastEnders. Show bosses have confirmed that the mother of Shirley (Linda Henry) and Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) will appear "at some point", a development that follows actress Kellie Bright's recent comments to RadioTimes.com that we "might" get to see Sylvie on screen.
Viewers have been left speculating that Sylvie - who walked out on her family years ago - could be living with Aunt Babe (Annette Badland), who was recently seen to be sharing her house with a mystery person. Now, an EastEnders spokesperson has said: "We can officially confirm that Sylvie will be appearing in the show at some point."
Casting details have yet to be announced, but the debut of Sylvie is bound to bring fresh drama for the Carter clan. Queen Vic landlord Mick (Danny Dyer) is currently under the impression that Sylvie is his mum when, in actual fact, Shirley is his birth mother. So will the arrival of Sylvie end up exposing some long-held family secrets?
