Radio TV Champions Poll: the celebrities who REALLY need your votes

By

It's Friday afternoon and we're nearing the business end of the first round draws of Radio Times' TV Champion Poll. The vote closes today at 5:30pm and while some celebs are sprinting towards the finish line, others languish behind in danger of an early exit.

In short... it's time to get behind your favourite stars. And - to give you a helping hand - we've got a round up of the closest bouts where your precious vote could really make a difference.

Here at Radio Times HQ, the tussle between Richard Osman and Sue Perkins is going down to the wire, with the Pointless host even taking to Twitter in a bid to inch ahead of his Bake Off rival.

As did former Doctor Who actress Billie Piper who remains a few percent ahead of Declan Donnelly.

Not even a single percentile separates some of our fiercest showdowns with the outcomes of Tom Hollander v Shaun Evans, Clare Balding v Jack Whitehall, Sheridan Smith v Parminder Nagra and Lacey Turner v Katherine Kelly all hanging in the balance, despite the latter throwing her weight behind the poll on Twitter.

Chat show hosts Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr are all under intense pressure from Russell Tovey, Ricky Gervais and Cillian Murphy, respectively. And it's a battle of the James's as Corden takes on 50 Shades and The Fall actor Jamie Dornan with a mere handful of votes separating the two.

Competing for your laughs - and votes - are Mathew Baynton and Rob Brydon, both neck-and-neck after two days of intense action at the polls. Meanwhile, actor Toby Stephens will no doubt be on the receiving end of Gordon Ramsay's sharp tongue if he maintains his slight lead over the TV chef.

Mary Berry may be queen of the kitchen but she's in real danger of becoming an early casualty at the hands of Fresh Meat's Zawe Ashton. And finally, over in presenter corner, we have Alex Jones enjoying a miniscule lead over documentary maker Anita Rani, while This Morning's Phillip Schofield is lagging just a short way behind Law & Order's Paterson Joseph.

So, who's it going to be? Baynton or Brydon? Dornan or Corden? You've got mere hours left to send your favourite celeb through to round two - and remember, you can vote as often you want in our ultimate popularity contest. So get clicking!
