Last night’s EastEnders cliffhanger saw Billy Mitchell put in the frame for Lucy’s murder following Lee Carter’s dramatic revelations. So what lies ahead for Billy now that he’s suddenly prime suspect?
Next week’s episodes will see Billy’s world come crashing down around him as he deals with Lee’s (Danny-Boy Hatchard) accusations that he was seen arguing with Lucy on the night she died. Once again, it’s left to Phil (Steve McFadden) to clear up Billy’s mess and he pays a visit to the Carters, keen for Lee not to go to the police with his new information.
Billy, meanwhile, digs himself a deeper hole when he breaks into Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Tosh’s (Rebecca Scroggs) flat to try and remove any evidence of him being there, but Tosh ends up catching him. Phil is now convinced that the Carters will go to the police and calls his lawyer Ritchie (Sian Webber) to help Billy get out of his current state.
Ritchie is quick to arrive at the Mitchells where she clarifies Billy’s version of events, but makes it clear that it doesn’t sound good for him. Phil, however, comes up with a plan to clear Billy’s name.
In the end, Lee agrees to let Billy give his own statement to the police. As a result, the investigating officers pay a visit to the Beales and tell them that imprisoned chef Jake Stone (Jamie Lomas) will be released.
The police don’t give Billy’s name to Ian (Adam Woodyatt), but Mick (Danny Dyer) soon sets him straight and a furious Ian storms in to the Vic to confront Billy in front of a packed pub. So will Billy become public enemy number one as a result?
