Nine years after meeting on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will appear on screen yet again with a yet to be titled film in Malta this summer.
Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat explained that the couple had scouted the island of Gozo for their next movie, which is believed to be a romance written by the pair.
Pitt knows Malta well; he also filmed World War Z in the country in 2011. “I’m happy that Hollywood producers have once again chosen Malta for their project,” explained Muscat, “we will be delighted to host Mr Pitt, Ms Jolie, and their family for the second time in just a few years.”
According to US Weekly, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s new flick will shoot in August at Mgarr ix-Xini Bay.
“I’m sure that this film will help put our beautiful sister island of Gozo on the world map,” said Muscat.
The duo’s new film will not have the action-packed vibe of Mr & Mrs Smith, but instead take on an independent movie feel. Jolie is yet to confirm if she will direct the movie. She recently finished directing Unbroken, set in Australia and starring Skins actor Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Jai Courtney (Divergent) and Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans), which will be released this winter.
Mr & Mrs Smith gained Jolie and Pitt little critical acclaim, but it did bring in more than £290 million at the box office – there’s no doubt the pair are a blockbusting combination.
