Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) is to threaten Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) with legal action next week in the wake of his injury at Home Farm. Viewers of tonight’s Emmerdale will see Andy involved in an accident caused by Adam Barton (Adam Thomas), but the injury to his hand proves to be worse than doctors initially thought.
“Adam gets really drunk and says things to Andy that he shouldn’t. Andy gets very angry because, as far as he’s concerned, his career could now be over,” says actress Natalie J Robb. “Adam definitely makes Andy’s anger worse, which is what makes him want to sue Moira.”
When Andy breaks the news following a heated showdown in the Woolpack, his employer is left reeling: “Moira’s in shock because the Bartons really helped Andy out when they arrived in the village. They believed in him, gave him a chance and helped him get his life back together,” continues Robb. “Moira sees Andy as a friend and not just as her farm manager. Plus they’re not insured for this as Adam was drunk when he caused the accident. So a lawsuit could close the farm down.”
News of the lawsuit also ends up creating a further division between Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Moira, the latter of whom suggests that she could be better off facing the future on her own. But little does she realise that Cain is working behind the scenes to ensure that Andy drops legal proceedings by offering him a lump sum and to keep his job open.
“Yes, Cain offers Andy thousands of pounds to settle this. Luckily, Andy relents and accepts that, but then they have the issue of trying to get the money together. Cain is trying to do that without telling Moira because he’s still not talking to her. As far as he’s concerned, the one woman he loved let him down. Their relationship is in a bad state, especially as they’re so newly married.”
