The Great Beauty director, Paolo Sorrentino, is currently shooting his new film Youth in Venice with Michael Caine (The Dark Knight), Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs), Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), Jane Fonda (Barbarella) and Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine).

Sorrentino's new movie tells the story of two pensioners Fred (Caine) and Mick (Keitel) who decide to go on a mountain holiday. One is a struggling film director and the other a retired composer, the movie delves into themes of age, art and relationships.

Shooting officially began in May but the production has now set up camp in the church building of San Lorenzo. Dating back to the 9th century, this historic structure sits in the corner of Venice close to Piazza San Marco and the lagoon, where filming will also take place.

After the Venice shoot, the Oscar-winning director will move the cast and crew to the stunning panoramas of Switzerland, and then shoot some scenes in England.

Italian director Sorrentino shot to fame in 2013, when he won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and his movie The Great Beauty, set against the glorious sites of Rome.

The movie is set for release in spring 2015.
