You’d think Lily James, the actress who plays Lady Rose in hit ITV drama Downton Abbey, would be used to wearing period dress.
But it seems the 25-year-old actress, who stars in Kenneth Branagh’s live-action Cinderella, has met her match when it comes to her Disney princess costume…
“My corset was so tight, I could only have liquid food,” James told The Daily Mail, calling her time in the costume “torture.”
Sounds like she’ll be glad to get back to the looser 1920’s garb favoured by her Downton Abbey character. Well, that and Mrs Patmore’s pies.
James plays the lead role of Cinderella in the upcoming Disney film, which also stars fellow Downton actress Sophie McShera, as well as Richard Madden, Holliday Grainger, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Derek Jacobi and Hayley Atwell.
Downton Abbey will be back on ITV later this year.
